The technical inspection (TK) is a mandatory periodic vehicle check to verify its technical condition and road safety. STK City performs technical inspections for all common vehicle categories at its facility in Bratislava-Ružinov, Rožňavská 18541/2.
Which vehicles we inspect
We perform technical inspections for the following vehicle categories:
- Passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles (M1, N1) – passenger cars, vans up to 3.5 t
- Trucks and buses (M2, M3, N2, N3)
- Motorcycles, scooters, three-wheelers and quads (L3e–L7e)
- Trailers up to 3.5 t (O2, R2)
- Trailers over 3.5 t (O3, O4, R3, R4)
- Tractors (T1–T5)
- Working machines and special vehicles (C1–C5, Ps)
- Snowmobiles (Ls)
What is checked during a technical inspection
The technical inspection covers verification of all safety and technical parameters of the vehicle in accordance with current legislation. The following are checked in particular:
- braking system (efficiency, balance)
- steering and suspension
- axles, wheel suspension and play
- tires (tread depth, condition, dimensions)
- lighting and headlights
- bodywork, chassis and vehicle identification (VIN)
- seat belts and visibility
- fuel system and exhaust system
Types of technical inspections
Regular technical inspection (TK) – a mandatory periodic inspection according to legally defined intervals. The interval depends on the vehicle category and age (for new passenger vehicles: the first TK after 4 years, then every 2 years).
Repeated technical inspection (TK) – performed after a failed regular inspection when the vehicle requires repairs before approval. It can be completed within 30 days of the original inspection at a reduced price.
Administrative technical inspection (TK) – an inspection performed when changing the vehicle’s technical data, for example after modifications, a color change, or other adjustments recorded in the vehicle documents.
Special technical inspection (TK) – performed in special cases defined by law, for example when importing a vehicle, after a traffic accident, or based on a decision by the authorities.

STK City is located at Rožňavská 18541/2 in Bratislava-Ružinov, within the NAD 820 complex. Entrance is from Trnavská cesta — follow the STK City directional signs. How long does a technical inspection take?
A technical inspection for a passenger vehicle typically takes 30–45 minutes. For trucks it may take longer.
What do I need for the technical inspection?
A valid vehicle registration certificate (certificate of registration, part II) and proof of identity. The vehicle must be clean so that the identification numbers are legible.
What if my vehicle fails the technical inspection?
You will receive a report listing the defects found. After correcting them, you can request a repeat technical inspection (TK opakovaná) within 30 days.

Do you also perform emissions inspections?
