Emissions Inspection (EK)

The emissions inspection (EK) is a mandatory check to verify that a vehicle’s exhaust emissions comply with the legally required limit values. STK City performs emissions inspections for passenger vehicles, trucks and tractors at its facility in Bratislava-Ružinov, Rožňavská 18541/2.

Which vehicles and fuel types we inspect

We perform emissions inspections for the following types of vehicles and fuel systems:

  • Petrol vehicles with catalytic converter (M1, N1)
  • Diesel vehicles (M1, N1)
  • LPG/CNG vehicles – petrol + LPG/CNG (M1, N1)
  • Trucks and buses over 3.5 t (N2, N3, M2, M3)
  • Trucks over 3.5 t with LPG (N2, N3, M2, M3)
  • Tractors (T1–T5)

What is checked during an emissions inspection

The emissions inspection checks the condition of the exhaust system and emission values. For petrol vehicles, CO, HC and lambda values are measured. For diesel vehicles, exhaust smoke opacity is measured. The OBD system (on-board diagnostics) is also checked where required by regulations.

Types of emissions inspections

Regular EK – mandatory periodic inspection, typically performed alongside the technical inspection (TK). Intervals are the same as for TK.

Repeat EK – performed after a failed regular inspection. Can be done within 30 days at a reduced price.

Administrative EK – performed in special cases, e.g. when changing the engine or other technical modifications.

Emissions inspection prices

Emissions inspection prices vary by vehicle category and fuel type. A complete and up-to-date overview of prices is available on the Pricing page.
